WITH DONATED SPERM

С дарени сперматозоиди

Donor insemination (IUI-D) is a procedure that involves placing treated sperm into the recipient woman's uterus to improve the chances of pregnancy. IUI-D is performed in couples where the woman has patent fallopian tubes, but the man's semen is unsuitable and cannot be used for treatment procedures. In such circumstances, accepting or treating anonymously donated sperm is one option. IUI-D has the advantage that half of the child's genetic makeup comes from the mother.

The donor is anonymous and provides non-identifying information such as:

  • Blood type.
  • Physical characteristics like height, weight, eye color, hair color, etc.
  • Interests.

This information allows the couple, with our guidance, to select a suitable donor. The goal is for the child to resemble both parents.

IUI-D involves tracking the progress of the menstrual cycle using ultrasound and blood tests. For those women who do not have a regular menstrual cycle, ovulation induction can be used to stimulate follicle maturation. The IUI-D procedure is performed on the day of ovulation.

Once confirmed ovulation has occurred, sperm from the donor is retrieved from storage in the liquid nitrogen vessel (-196°C). This sperm sample is then processed in a laboratory by an embryologist. The goal of the preparation process is to collect a large number of motile, normal-appearing spermatozoa. The prepared sperm is then introduced into the woman's uterus using a fine catheter.

The success rate for IUI-D is usually between 50-60% after 6-9 treatment cycles.

For couples who do not conceive after six cycles of IUI-D or in cases where the woman does not have a patent fallopian tube, IVF with donor sperm should be considered.
